1. Podcasting Scene taking Shape in Asia
This week brought exciting developments in the Asian podcast scene! Highlights included Podcast Day Asia, the announcement of the Asia Podcast Awards winners, and, the BBC revealing a new Asia-focused news show, called Asia Specific, set to launch in the coming months!
2. All-Ireland Podcast Awards and Summit Announced
On the note of podcasting culture growing across the globe, Ireland is also a place to keep an eye on. A new two-day event, SOUND. WAVES., will take place in Adare, Ireland, on 12–13 November 2025, exploring all things creativity and monetization in podcasting, sports, and music. The summit will end with the first All-Ireland Podcast Awards.
3. Iconic Host Melvyn Bragg Steps Down from In Our Time
After an impressive 27-year run, Melvyn Bragg has announced his departure from BBC Radio 4’s In Our Time. Since its debut in 1998, the show evolved from a niche “death slot” filler to one of the BBC’s most influential podcasts, becoming the network’s first podcast in 2004 - read more about Bragg’s journey here.
4. 7th Annual Afros & Audio Podcast Festival Announced
Save the date: the 7th Annual Afros & Audio Podcast Festival will take place from 16-19 October 2025 in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 2019, Afros & Audio is the first multi-day conference created by and for the Black audio community, focused on collaboration, connection, and inclusive leadership.
